Serendipity

It is partly chance that I am going to Krakow, and partly luck, but ever since I found out I was going, it seems like all signs point to Poland.

A good case in point would be today. I woke up to find that today's page in my Yarn Harlot's page-a-day calendar is about a Polish Easter tradition. Namely the practice of courting people by splashing them with water on Easter Monday (also called wet Monday for obvious reasons).

While preparing lunch, Roisin had an appointment with a potential subletter - who turned out to be Michelle Reim. While Roisin was struck by my uncanny ability to know all of her possible subletters, I was thinking of the last time I saw Michelle. This was when I was working at the Source, and I remembered her mentioning that she was studying abroad in the next semester (what was to be my first semester at Guelph). I remember thinking that the place she was studying was maybe a little different than one might expect, so when I saw her today I asked her where she had gone. It was of course Poland, on the previous semester abroad trip.

These are but two Polish things I came into contact with today (the others being on-sale Polish sausage at Market Fresh, Perogies for supper, and a rather odd article on Cracked).

I'm not saying I believe in Fate, but it is interesting to notice how well I remember seeing Polish things now that Poland means something to me. I'm sure my Psych profs would have something to say about it.

I'll go over more details of the trip, my classes, and planning for it all later. I just wanted to get this thing set up and a quick post out there. I'm looking forward to my trip, and keeping a nice record of it all right here.
